The AO3 stats meme

Because I look forward to this all year.

1. Six Scenes from the Life of a Bad Ass, Bald Navigation Officer - 21,187
This is almost certainly a bot. 21,000 people are not reading about a female character who appeared in 30 seconds of a Star Trek movie that everyone hated. I think the hit count on the rest of my stories is pretty legit though.

2. The Pregnancy Scare - 15,180
Ah comment fic, how are you always at the top of my hit list? Seriously, this is my least favorite Tony/Pepper story I've ever written.

3. Dating Older Men and Other Adventures in Growing Up - 11,596
I can't say that Darcy/Bruce makes sense to me as a pairing, but that didn't stop me from writing it. It seems to have just the right amount of tropey goodness to make people like it.

4. Congratulations on an Excellent Kill - 8585
Yup, more commentfic. Everyone loves commentfic apparently.

5. The Right Thing in the Wrong Way - 6629
Aw, my favorite Tony/Pepper story. I worked on it for months. I'm glad people like it!

6. Introduction to Western Literature - 6492
It makes me happy that the Clint/Natasha book club made it onto the top ten list.

7. Marci Stahl, Avocado at Law - 6080
This is the most fun story I've ever written, and also one of my favorites. I'm glad that other people liked reading it as much as I loved writing it.

8. Someone I Used to Know - 5605
30% of the stories on my top ten list are Tony/Pepper, and 2/3 of those stories are commentfic. I really like this one though.

9. Six Cities That Are Not Budapest - 5147
Oh look, more commentfic on my top ten list! I really enjoyed writing this though, since I pulled everything out of my travel journal.

10. How to Win Friends and Influence People - 4903
When you write fic the day after a movie premiere, and it answers a question everyone was wondering about, sometimes it becomes very popular. I'm glad Maria Hill made it onto my top ten list.

I'm not typing up a whole list, just making note of which stories made the top ten for kudos and comments but not hits.

+ The Ladies Book Club of the Ninety-Ninth Precinct - 873
The first time I ever participated in Yuletide, and I wound up on top of the kudos list.

+ Two Lies and a Bit of Truth - 507
My subscribers have an appetite for Maria Hill

+ Less is More, and Other Lessons in Healthy Relationships - 468
Aw, more Tony/Pepper! I miss this pairing.

+ How to Unmask Your Neighborhood Vigilante - 47 comment threads
It's sure nice of the Daredevil kink meme watchers to leave so many comments when I stop by to write PG-13 gen and het fic.

+ Advice for Those of You Just Starting Your Heroic Journey - 27 comment threads
Aw, Leia. This is the one piece of Star Wars fic I managed to write after the movie came out, and I'm glad people liked talking about it.

+ Code Name Darcy - 26 comment threads
Since the first Darcy/Bruce story did so well, I tried writing another one. I won't make that mistake again, but I'm glad people liked talking about the story.
It's always fun to see these lists. :)

I have one Trek fic that has a ridiculously high hit count, too. And I've wondered about it, because it's a silly, cracky gen drabble that normally wouldn't attract much attention and the kudos/comments are quite low, as I would have expected. I mean, I love the story and think it's hysterical (Bones, Sulu, and a random security officer get their uniforms swapped while being beamed down to a planet and Bones completely freaks out about wearing a red shirt.) but I don't see it being something most people would bother to seek out or click on. I hadn't considered a bot before but that makes sense. I didn't know that was a thing. Why are bots hitting on random fics?

Aww, I loved that B99 book club fic! I actually read it before I ever watched the show (which I now have watched/am watching and adore) and should really read it again. I bet i missed out on some of the in jokes the first time. Also, I've had that Darcy/Bruce fic on my to-read list for awhile now, but I just haven't had much time/desire to read fic lately. I have a huge list of stories that sound amazing and then when I actually have an evening free, I just have no interest in anything. Go figure. Bah!
