Yuletide & The December Posting Meme

I wrote two treats for Yuletide this year, both long enough to post in the main collection. One of them has been modestly well-received, and the other has very few hits or kudos. Sadly, I've not heard from either recipient yet. (Though neither of them have commented on any of their gifts, so at least it's not just my story they're ignoring!) One of them is in a fandom I've written in before, and one is not. I'm quite curious if any of you can guess which is mine, especially since some of you have left kudos and comments on them :)

orangerful asked me about a time when I gave someone a gift that proved I really "got" them. The best one was probably eight years ago, the first Christmas I celebrated with my husband (who, at the time, was not even my boyfriend yet). We'd been dancing around each other for awhile. My gut feeling was that he was interested, but he never responded to any of my increasingly obvious overtures. I decided I'd make one last ditch effort with a really lovely Christmas gift, and if he didn't respond to that, I'd accept that he only wanted to be friends.

He talked a lot about wanting to travel, so I got him a copy of my favorite guide to Europe. Then I cut up a pretty ribbon and marked the destinations that I thought would most interest him. We went through it together on the couch, and I told him some of my best travel stories and what I thought he would like about each place. That was the night he first admitted how much he liked me, but that he'd been afraid that I didn't like him back.

Eight years later, that guidebook is still on our bookshelf, and the little bookmark ribbons are still sticking out the top.
That is a truly excellent gift. :)

And now I feel extra bad for whining -- at least my recipient commented on both the stories I wrote her. I hope they get back from where they are and appreciate yur good work soon!
Oh, don't feel bad! I would be frustrated by your experience too! One of my recipients just commented on the away at yuletide post, so I feel less bad about that. The other one got three gifts, two of which have gotten lots of attention, and she hasn't commented on any of them. It was her first Yuletide, so I'm beginning to wonder if she defaulted and then disappeared...

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
I wouldn't get too worried about the fics yet! The holidays can be crazy for people so maybe they just haven't had time to comment yet. :) Not that I'm not already freaking out about the reception of a gift fic that's been up all of one day... Ahem. *g*
Sigh. I still haven't heard from either of my recipients... I'm starting to think I'm not going to.
:( I'm sorry! It really sucks when you make something for someone and they can't even be bothered to say thank you. Far too many of us know how that feels! It should just be common courtesy.
Now THAT is an awesome story! :) Have you guys gone to Europe together??
We did! We got engaged on our Greece & Turkey trip, and we are planning to go somewhere in Europe the summer after next.
Such a wonderful gift! I am glad he appreciated it, too.
